ignoring the off limits sign leads to decapitation … 070108

a 17 y/o teenage boy was decapitated last saturday at six flags in georgia when he ignored the signs that said authorized personnel only. he was at the park earlier and lost his cap. he was trying to retrieve his cap when he was hit in the head by the roller coaster traveling at full speed-50 mph. he had to climb over two 6-feet fences to get into the area where he was decapitated.

how sad. i grieve for the parents and family of this teenager. such a loss at such a young age.

what must that be like for the group as they traveled back to Columbia, S.C? the seat that he sat in on the way to georgia was now empty. i can imagine the silence and the awkwardness as no one wanted to say anything.

if there is a lesson to be learned from this it would be, “do not ignore the warning signs of life”. how many times have we done that? how many teens think they can beat the system and the warning signs by thinking it’s not for them but for others. think of pre-marital sex and the “warning signs” of STD’s and unwanted pregnancy yet sexual promiscuity is still at a very high rate. think of the “warning signs” of drugs and alcohol abuse, yet there is an over indulgence among teens. think of the “warning signs” of dropping out of school and the financial consequences yet a great number of teens drop out of school.

there are other warning signs that are ignored daily. warning signs are there for a reason. heeding them saves lives and much more. what if this 17 y/o boy had done that? he would be alive today to purchase many more caps.

what’s your thoughts on this? agree? disagree?
